business model equal to db4objects is seeing great financial success.
According to market research, Sleepycat made $2.8, 3.8, and 6.5 MM in
revenue in 2001 through 2003, respectively. So they should be somewhere
at $8 to 10 MM in 2005. With only 30 people, little marketing and other
cost (inherent to the dual license model), their cost should be below
$4 MM, makes a flat $4 MM annual profit, or some 50% of revenue.
A perfect proof of the cost advantages of the open source model.
