Another victory of open source over closed-source vendors is now official when Oracle dumped its Toplink O/R mapper (which had performed dismally against Hibernate) into the open source space.
We have seen those dumpware projects before with Ingres, Versant's JDO and so on. None of them has been successful. It's just a decent form of capitulation. I would be interested how many million dollars of write-off Oracle booked for that.
