Christof, thanks for putting the slides online! Maybe two comments are in order as it is perhaps not evident from the slides itself... 1. Teaching: The slides mention that we use db4o for our advanced Information Systems course in an exercise focusing on bringing out the differences between application programming with a relational and with an object oriented database. Also on the slides we mention that we have conducted a Lab course where students had to implement a semantic datamanagement layer on top of db4o. What is however not mentioned, is that we also taught a course on mobile and personal information system that made also use of db4o and its unique characteristics. 2. Research (Project Avon): As can be seen from the slides, we try to raise the level of conceptual expressiveness even further by providing a semantic data management layer on top of db4o (OMS Codename "Avon"). Among other things, this layer will provide support for role-modelling, evolution, context-awareness and declarative querying. It is our intention to get feedback from the db4o community outside the Ivory Tower of Academia by posting our project here! Further information will be made available shortly. In the meantime I would like to make you aware of the Avon's developer website (http://maven.globis.ethz.ch/projects/avon/) which provides some further information. Also, documentation of the OMS Family of Semantic Data Management Systems can be found on our reseach web site (http://www.globis.ethz.ch/research/oms). I would like to invite anybody to share their comments and ideas with us, either directly or through the db4o community! Thanks a lot!
